Class Overview & Values
These classes are age-appropriate for children between the ages of 7 – 18 years. Each core group ie: 7-12 and 12-18 will have work appropriate for the age group and the interest of that age group.
The Kids focus on a range of processes and mediums across drawing and painting and sculpture to continually build their knowledge and practical skills. Each term there will be a new process and focus on different art styles and art work, encouraging a series and individual projects. All kinds of art styles will be explored including realism, abstract, and more.
We will also feature the works of cultural arts and crafts through the ages. Materials in class are supplied for Term Projects: e.g. pastels, acrylic paint, brushes, paper and canvases etc.
Complimentary Participation in & paid entry into local art prizes where appropriate.
Studio Equipment includes the use of: Painting Easels, Drawing Boards, Clips and other core equipment. Students are issued with all extra drawing and painting media in class, beyond their core Art Pack.
Students are to bring their own art apron
Kids will receive their own art pack on enrollment.
Fabric Art Bag, Small paint kit, Various Dry media, brush set, Drawing Tools, A3 Sketchbook, A4 sketch book + A3 Display Folio.
Introduction into paints and painting styles
Including acrylic, watercolour, oils and crayon watercolour
Create a picture image for childs portfolio.
Exploration of a variety of artists and their styles
Painting on the childs preferred style
Exploring various artists and painting in their style. Children will create an ongoing work to come back to each week until end of term.
Sculpture using fimo clay – we will study a number of creative sculpture artist thoughout the years and create a 3d sculpture to take home.
Exploring the art of negative painting – creating an artwork using negative painting style
Work on major work from week 3
Explore the art of mixed media – using various mediums all on the same page to create an interesting and textured design – this also includes collage Work on major work from week 3
Explore the art of charcoal drawing and completing a drawing in this media. Complete major work from week 3
Exploration of pencil drawing – this will include some anime work with a junior emerging artist from the local area.
Exploration of culturally based art forms including Aboriginal art, Egyptian art, African art and more
Exploration of water colour based arts
All works will be added to childs portfolio that will be provided in week one in art pack.
At the end of week 10, child will be able to take portfolio home to keep
If the child returns, for a further term, the portfolio will be able to be added to.
